WI: British War of Succession

The POD is that Philippe Charles, Duke of Valois survives. He is the eldest son of the Duke of Orleans, Louis XIV's brother. His mother is Henrietta of England, daughter of Charles I. This means that if the Old Pretender dies before the death of Queen Anne in 1714, this alternate Phillippe II, Duke of Orleans would become the Jacobite claimant and the most senior heir to the British throne. Could this then spark a war between France and Britain upon the death of Queen Anne? Would the Hannovers even accept the British crown if they risk war with France and Spain?

To make this even more interesting, if Louis XV also died of measles along with the rest of his family, this alternate Phillippe II, Duke of Orleans would also be the heir to the French throne and would become King of France upon the death of Louis XIV on September 1st 1715.

If he’s heir to France or later king he’s not going to bother with England. France is by far the greater prize
