WI British Empire was attacked in all directions during World War II

What if the British Empire was attacked in all directions after December 1941. The Italians and the Germans attacking the British possessions in Egypt, Sudan, Kenya, northern Somalia, Kenya, and Tanzania, the Japanese attacking British Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaya, Burma, India, and Australia, and the Germans attacking Malta, Gibraltar, and Cyprus. Also, what if the Germans re-initiated air attacks against Britain itself. What if the strain was too great for Britain to bear?

And, prey tell, how the Germans, Italians and Japanese are going to find the resources to carry out all of those offensives at the same time? I mean the Germans can't pull out airpower they need for these operations off the Eastern front while the Japanese will not be able to find the shipping necessary to expand their invasions beyond OTLs Malaya, Dutch East Indies and the Philippines (can't drop the last one - in the event the yanks get involved you'll have a knife right across the key shipping lanes bringing oil back to Japan).

Besides you'll find that the Italian forces in East Africa were already pretty much neautralized by Dec '41.

As long as you are going to fight the Soviet Union, this scenario is impossible. Even if you ignore the Soviets (And they certainly won't ignore you), this is stretching plausibility.

Simple answer: They cannot be attacked from all sides. The Germans were too busy concentrating forces in the Soviet Union to send even a large percentage of their forces against Britain. The Japanese basically attacked most of these targets anyway but never could attack India and with America in the war any attack on Australia would fail. The only way for this to have even a chance of succeeding is if the Germans don't launch Barbarossa, in which case they have to worry about a Soviet attack and for the Japanese not to hit Pearl Harbor. In which case they either have to run out of oil and scrap metal extremely quickly and lose the war or withdraw from China, lose face before the population of Japan and the U.S. probably stops shipments anyway once the Japanese start siezing British bases.

And whatever you do do not even suggest the Sea-Mammal-Which-Must-Not-Be-Named.

Let me change it. What if the Germans never launched an offensive into the Soviet Union. Also, the Italians sent in more forces to Africa, this time with German assistance and guidance. Also, the Japanese never attack Pearl Harbor, and seize control of Dutch Indonesia in order to gain oil supplies. Also, what if Roosevelt lost the 1940 election and was replaced by a isolationist President, who remained neutral in the War and refused to aid Britain. Afterwards, the Germans close down Vichy France, seizing control of French West Africa, and attack British Nigeria, Gold Coast, and Sierra Leone, while the Italians attack British Egypt, Kenya, Somiland, and Sudan. In Asia, the Japanese invade Malaya, Singapore, Hong Kong, the British Pacific Islands, New Zealand, Burma, and eastern India. What would Churchill do.

Hitler gets to say Kolberg much earlier as the now ready soviets launch the initial offensive from a much better placed border in Belarus and Ukraine...

With what logisitcal bases?

Which will probably make the US intervene anyway, and this of course assumes they can even succesfully get enough oil reserves to counter the embargo for more than a year or two.

All these plans you're giving seem to me like they will only lead to much much more partisan warfare. To seize French Africa they'll have to fight its governors in the first place and they don't have a way to supply an army in Chad or Mali.

Okay, it's pretty clear that you are just going to keep changing things and tossing around random mutually contradictory PODs until you get an answer you like. In order to save time, how about just presenting what you want to happen and ask how it could come about?

OTL got about as close as you can. I mean, Europe AND Asia at the same time? Can't blame them for not seeing it coming.

G'day Youngania,

You may do better asking all those questions one at a time and also running a quick search for previous threads with those subjects.

Regards,
Cook.
