WI: British Empire Switched over to the whitworth rifle

The whitworth rifle was one the most accurate and longest ranged, muzzle loading rifles one could get during the latter half of 19th century. OTL it was historically used in the sniper capacity, used mainly by US confederate and French snipers. But what if, it got adopted as a general issue rifle for the British empire.

It could have a fairly profound effect on firearms design today had whitworth's guns and artillery did get noticed and adopted by the British empire. It would almost certainly had helped significantly, in the long term. But that's only what I think.
