The Yamasee War saw a variety of Amerindian nations of South Carolina rise up against the British colonial population and come very close to destroying it. In the end, it was action by the Cherokees against the Creeks, the latter a component of the Yamasee confederation, that allowed the British to regain control of the colony.
What if the Cherokee had not intervened, or had fully joined the Yamasee side? What if the Yamasee had been successful in capturing Charles Town, which in OTL had been unsuccessfully besieged? What if the Spanish or French, already selling arms and equipment to the Creeks, had intervened militarily against the British in South Carolina or Georgia? What would have been the long-term effects on the British colonies in the Southeast, and on the course of later colonial wars in North America, and on the subsequent great European wars of the 18th century?
