WI: British Carribean colonies joined Canada instead of becoming independent

For all us Canadian it would be a dream come true being able to retire or vacation in Canada instead of having to go to the US or Mexico. For those that are not familiar with Canada we have 6 months of Winter.

How could this come about, what would be the implication to Canada-US relations if they were surrounded by Canada?

Would the US stop Canada or could they?

Actually the best chance would be in 1918 or 1919. Apparently Borden wanted to gain control of the Caribbeans much like Australia gained control of many of the Pacific Islands.
I'm not sure why it was turned down, but according to Wiki there were several politicians in the islands who supported this.
Unfortunately I can't say much more, since all my info came from Wiki, and we know how reliable that is.
