WI: British and French refuse to leave Sinai peninsula?

IOTL the British, the Israeli, and the French invaded the Sinai peninsula during the Cold War, but left after disapproval from both the US and the USSR. First of all, what were the chances of the British, Israelis and the French refusing to retreat from the Sinai peninsula? De Gaulle, for example, proved on other occasions that he wasn't going to tolerate being America's lapdog. Second, if this crisis persisted, what would the consequences be?

Unless Britain and France achieve their operational goals during the Suez Crisis, neither Britain nor France will be able to stay in the Sinai- Eden and Mollet's positions would only become weaker and their downfalls accelerated.

In typical 4th republic fashion, some days later Mollet is swept by chronical political instability. The new French government decides to get out Sinai. End of the game.

For the record, France 4th republic: lasted 12 years (1946 - 1958) but got 25 governements !
