WI: Britian gets Mexico & South America

I'm thinking of having this happen in a TL I'm doing, and my question is, how would this affect British history? I'm thinking the influence of Parliament might be lessened (it was important in OTL because the king had to have its approval to pass tax increases, a need which goes away if he can just wait for the next load of silver from Potosi) leading to England turning into an absolute monarchy. How would this affect the development of democracy-would it be pushed back some? How else would the world change?

Am I the only person who's thinking, 'Britain can't get any spot on earth because of the wave of a wand?'

Even if Castile never united itself, but got Peru/Mexico, they'd have a stronger fleet that England will ever be able to pull out in the mid-1500s. Why does half the board think that England is pre-destined?

Well, since everyone seems to think this is ASB, and it wasn't the main focus of my TL anyway, I think I'll leave it out.

Thanks for talking me out of this :)

I think a British Mexico and some of south america (remember the Guyanas, and Brazil). Would be possible but, don't make it at the height of the Spanish Empire. Maybe during the War for Spanish succession, or some point after that.

What would a British Mexico be like?

Britain grabs it from Castille (Spain doesn't permanently unify in this TL) sometime in the 1530's-1550's.

Outside of some crazy inheritance scheme where Mary I inherits the New World from Phillip II, this simply won't happen in this time frame.
