WI: Britain wins the Battle of New Orleans

Fearless Leader, you mean after accepting the peace treaty the British will suddenly throw it out and demand further concessions which they have not gained on field of battle, plus inform the British people that the war will continue because it can be continued, despite that pesky peace agreement already signed?

It being 1814-15 I don't think the British people get much of a say on the issue. The people who matter are not the sort to look such a gift horse in the mouth. The treaty of Amiens, scarcely a decade previously, is surely evidence enough that the British are perfectly capable of playing fast and loose with international agreements when it is in their interest to do so.

As mentioned before, Keane's siezing the city before Jackson arrives is the most likely scenario. In which case the Battle of New Orleans is but a minor skirmish and it's quite possibly Pakenham and Jackson face off further north somewhere.

Jackson's certainly not going to kill himself out of shame. It's quite possible he'd be the kind to leave standing orders to burn the city upon withdrawing, which would have massive consequences of it's own.

Oh for a brigade of "heavies" at that match!

Jackson without the numbers of guns he experienced at N.O, in an un-entrenched position, facing a highly mobile and flexible proffesional army?
I know I play the "Old Colonel" for the rise, but seriously, can anyone see a real POD where the states win? This is one war that the Brits will win hands down, had the war continued (I believe that is what the original question posed, Ghent - didn't happen)

As for the Heavies; The Union Brigade marching up the Missisip sounds like a great title for a dity!
