WI Britain declared war on USSR in 1939

I have just read the Wikipedia article on Anglo-Polish Alliance, and noticed this:

Both the initial unilateral British guarantee, and the bilateral Pact, required the attacked party to decide to engage the aggressor "in hostilities", "with its national armed forces". Since Poland did not do that, Great Britain came under no obligation to declare war on the Soviet Union.

What if, the Polish did engaged the invading Soviet army, and Britain honoured the Alliance by declaring war on the USSR? Will the French follow suit? (It seems the French did'nt have similar obligations. See Wikipedia article on Franco-Polish_Military_Alliance)

Germany and USSR will be pushed into the same side against Britain and France, and co-dominate Eastern Europe. But how long can Hitler and Stalin tolerate the other despite their great ideological divergence?

I speculate some hostilities would have broken out in Central Asia. UK might send troops to assist Finland in the Winter War (Will the Soviets still invade Finland in Nov 1939?) through Petsamo or Narvik. and we would end up with more Allied forces in Scandinavia. Will this affect the outcome of Norwegian Campaign, e.g. the Allies might hold on in Northern Norway?

And would the Japanese enter the war on the German side? Or, moved by its anti-Communist sentiment, would eventually join the Allies and attack the Soviets?

Will the US enter the war? If yes, when?

Please discuss.

The Americans are thorougly alarmed by the spectre of a Soviet/German alliance, and rapidly patch up relations with the only other major power having a history of Russian antipathy, the Japanese.

Or the Russian/German colossus combines forces to rapidly force the British out of the war. They then join forces with the Japanese to attack Hitler's new Lebensraum target, the vast plains of the United States (Canada/Alaska is Russia's reward)

i think the UK wouldn't go to war with the USSR if they did the Russians would bring the war to India. the Brits would give up, then the Nazis and the Sovits would turn on each other and it's be one bloody mess from there

Britain and France drew up plans to bomb the Russian oilfields of Baku which would have meant a declaration of war with the USSR. This was during the 'heyday' of the Nazi Soviet Pact, so IIRC would have been in early 1940, after the Winter War but before the German offensives in the West.

Turkey also would have been severely pissed off since the Anglo-French would have overflown their territory and made them accessories to an attack on the USSR, something they were desperate to avoid
