WI Bristol Bombay were armed with side-firing guns?

WI inter-war Bristol Bombays were armed with side-firing machine guns ..... like later Puff-the-Magic-Dragon C-47 or AC-130 Spectre gunships?
Given that the RAF enjoyed air-superiority over most of the colonies, Bombays could deliver hellfire and brimstone to uppity tribesmen at will.
The RAF officially listed Bristol Bombay and H.P. Harrow as bomber/transport, but they only carried a small bomb load.

Rigger,

Thought the side (waist) gun positions were flexible and defensive on these aircraft. Our Dragons, Spectre et al had fixed side mounted weapons bore sighted to a wingtip mounted aiming devices. The pilot, seated to the left aligned a mark on his side window with the wingtip reference and flew a pylon turn around his ground target.

A few points.
First the Harrow was an interim Bomber later converted to a transport. It never served in the dual role.
Second by the time the Bombay entered service it was the eve of WWII and the Bombay was too valuable to waste on rebellious tribesmen.
Third the Bombload of the two aircraft was comparable to other medium bombers at the time they were designed in the early 30's though admittedly lower than the standard British medium bombers in 1939.
Forth Britain preferred to warn tribesmen so they could evacuate before bombing their villages as punishment for rebelliousness rather than massacring them. (Looks bad in the papers old boy)

Yes Dynasaur,
I was speculating about fixed side-mounted MMGs and HMGs all tiring to the left and the pilot aiming as he circled the target.
AC Bombay’s would be accurate enough to fire warning shots just outside an uppity village.
