WI: Brandenburg Destroyed

Brandenburg was not a region most people would expect success from for most of its existence. Its geography played against it and it sat between the competing powers of Sweden, Poland and Austria. It wasn't until the reign of the Great Elector Frederick William that the groundwork for greatness was set, and not until Fredereick the Great that it was truly achieved. Lets say after the complete and utter devastation of the Thirty Years War and ensuing Anarchy Brandenburg was gobbled up by Saxony, Bohemia and a myriad of other powers. How would this change European History. Who would go on to unite the Germans, if anybody?

First of all ,if Brandenburg was destroyed then Prussia would remain a part of Poland .
Now suppose Brandenburg is destroyed by plaque ,natural problems or economic one ,then ,it would either remain a dutchy or it would be integrated into Austria .
But if it is destroyed by war against Austria or Poland ,then Austria would annex it or redistribute the lands .

Does it mean that Hohenzollerns of Brandenburg go extinct?

No they still are alive, but the Duchy of Brandenburg is no longer united under them at the end of the TYW

There wasn't a duchy of Brandenburg, it was a margraviate.

The most likely way it coul die, would be a Swedish takeover. This would mean that Pomerania and Brandenburg became part of Sweden. But if Sweden goes this way, the Mecklenburgs would also go that way. The result would a German state (under Swedish rule) which was the equalant of Bohemia.

Without Hohenzollern rule we wouldn't see the large influx of French refugees, so it would end up less developed. It would likely pretty much turn into a produce of food and soldiers for Sweden.

Does any of this enable Sweden to dominate the south coast of the Baltic to or beyond the 18th Century?

I suspect a Sweden controlling so much will pretty much dismember Poland in the Deluge and annex Denmark if it's stupid enough to enter the conflict. So yes the Swedish Empire will likely last longer.

You have to get rid of the Holy Roman Empire first. As an Electorate, Mark Brandenburg could not legally be devided.

Brandenburg proper can not be divided, but Prussia, Ravensburg, Cleves, Mark can all be separated from it. There is no reason the margraviate could not be held by the king of Sweden or Poland.

If you put it that way...

By splitting up Brandenburg I thought of it looking Balkanised ...

-Free City of Spandau
-Imperial City of Cottbus
-Frankfurt Oder Republic
-Grand Duchy of Teltow
- Dutch Protectorate of Oranienburg
-Emirat Kreuzberg
-Commune of Templin
-Oberbruch Special Economic Zone
- Brandenburg City, Hanse Member
-Werder Socialist Republic
-Kingdom of Lausitz

and so on ...
