WI: Bolivian victory over Chile in WotP?

What if the Bolivian-Peruvian alliance had defeated Chile in the War of the Pacific?

Well for starters Bolivia retains a Pacific port plus the very mineral rich Atacama Desert. On the long term that means Bolivia is stronger economically. Since Bolivia won the war of the Pacific it also wins the Acre war thus keeping control of the region from Brazil. The Acre being a proeminent rubber plantation site. Needless to say Bolivia would be way stronger economically and very much more stable politically as well as a result. Of course the butterflies are so much after that we would see a very different South America than OTL.

Not necessarily, although it's a likely consequence. If Acre stays with Bolivia and Brazil doesn't get a monopoly on rubber, the British might not go for rubber plantations on Malaysia, playing Brazil against Bolivia to keep dealers honest.

True but I still think in the longer run someone would have brought rubber plantations to the East Indies.

Bolivia would be a lot less of a backwaters if it had access to the sea, that's for sure. It'd have helped a lot before air travel.
