What if in the immediate aftermath of 9/11 which saw huge support for Labour in the polls (pushing up to 57%) Tony Blair decided to call a snap election, possibly out of a result of not calling one earlier that year. Most electoral calcualtors would give Labour a huge super-majority similar to the Conservative 470 seats in 1931.
What would the result be of such a super lanslide? Who would become the next Tory leader? Would Tony Blair stay on after 2007? What would happen to Gordon Brown if he chose to? With such a large majority would Labour become the dominant party in British politics for decades to come?
