WI: Better EIC-VOC relations in Amboyna and no massacre?

The EIC and VOC shared Amboyna in Indonesia but had a number of conflicts leading to the Amboyna massacre that played a big role in the Anglo-Dutch wars.

What would happen if the companies got along better and what would be needed to resolve the conflicts in a more amicable manner?

(This is related to a TL I'm working on in which Britain as well as the Dutch keep a trading post in Japan.)

Okay, some thoughts...

The Dutch governor in the region was basically a dick; the English were just there to trade spices, but he tortured them until they confessed to, well, anything.

If your goal si more English involvement in the Indies, I would go with Rum instead...

Rather than more English in the Indies, I'm wondering about generally better relations between the Dutch and English, and was considering the effects of better trade relations might have.

For example, could the Navigation Acts and the Anglo-Dutch Wars have been either made less significant or even butterflyed away if the Dutch and English were co-operating rather than competeing.

Rum's worth a look...
