WI Belarus stays with Russia?

As you all know, Belarus became independent when the USSR was dissolved in 1991. Ever since, however, Belarus has remained quite close to Russia and there hasbeen talk about some kind of union between the two country. So what if Belarus, stays with Russia? Does that alter history in any significant way?

Well, Russia now has a major land link and border with Poland. Russian East Prussia is now a lot closer to Russian territory, and they might want to geographically connect the areas. That could be troublesome.

yeah, that place is kinda Russia's property anyway.

Which must be why they've started to drift away from Russia:rolleyes:

The further from 1991, the harder it is to see Belarus joining the Russian Federation. Okay, not entirely, but they definitely have been drifting apart over the past few years.

Well in that case, what if they were a part of Russia anyway and couldn't make this drift you mention?

Small off-topic:
What is nescesarry that in 1991. when SU starts to desintegrate, Russia decides that she will let all non-Slavic republics to go, but that Ukrainians and Belorussians are in fact Russians, so they have to stay as a part of Russia? Same thing with Kazakhstan where in 1991 were more Russians than kazakhs?

I think that was suggested; I'm pretty sure the Ukrainians, at least, have pretty strong nationalism.

Lukashenko, fuck yeah!

Lukashenko takes the presideny of the Russian "federation", which would make things way much better there.

Because of him, Belarus was about the only post-sovietic republic that saw an increase in living standards in the 1990s, despite very little in the way of local ressources.

Despite being an oil importer, Belarus army had less fuel supply problems than the "federation" army back in 1999-2004.

Belarus police also doesn´t display the behaviour of hardened criminals.

Lukashenko did offer an union to putin and putin refused, because putin and his backers where indeed fearfull for the Kremlin throne.

Actually, I kind of agree with this guy. Russia with Lukashenko would be supremely badass and likely an ferocious economic tiger as well.
