WI: Bavarian Illuminati wasn't formed

People would find another group to form conspiracy theories around. Maybe the Knights Templar becomes the dead organization that conspiracy theorists to tie everything together with. Outside of that, not much. It wasn't that influential a group.
 
Everything that was said about the illuminati was said about Freemasons first. Indeed, the earliest strand of the conspiracy theory had it that the illuminati was an evil force either already in control of the Freemasons or were in the process of taking them over. So conspiracy theorists would be a little more obsessed with the Masons.

Another group with a less cool name would have taken their place in conspiracy theories. Actually, I think just having a mysterious-sounding name is what attracts conspiracy theorists to these groups.
