In 1567 a group of Geuzen tried to take possesion of the city of Antwerp. The group of calvinist rebels (geuzen) was to small to really threaten the city and the rebels where defeated at Oosterweel. Inside the city walls the Calvinists wanted to help their comrades but they where stopped by William of Orange. The calvinists, wanting revenge for their fallen comrades, armed themselves and build up a camp near " de Meir". The Catholics fearing the calvinists also armed themselves and encamped near the city hall. The Lutherans made their camp near the Schelde river. William was able to convince the Lutherans to join the Catholics, thus outnumbering the Calvinist rebels completely and forcing them to disarm. WI This had errupted in a full scale battle? A more civil war like religious war in the Netherlands instead of a war against foreign oppression? Massacres of opposite religious factions? Where would the losing factions emigrate to? note that Alba hasn't arrived yet with his army in the Netherlands
