WI: Bacon Lives

For those who don't know, Nathaniel Bacon lead a revolt in the British colony of Virginia. Bacon's Rebellion. He, however died from dysentery after they were able to successfully pillage Jamestown. After he died, his followers just left.

What if he did not die of dysentery and it just ran it's course and he recovered like it usually does?

Well British troops are going to be sent and Bacon's bacon is cooked (pun intended). I don't see an American revolution happening but I'd imagine that he'd be considered a hero to the colonists during the American Revolution. He will be without fault and considered the greatest of patriots against British imperialism in American schools afterwords.

For what it's worth, I've considered posting this WI myself. I don't actually have a good idea of possible consequences, though.

Bacon Land

When British soldiers arrive with orders to arrest Bacon, he and his men move inland. Since they are now outlaws there is no limit on westward movement. They find a passage way through the mountans. Bacon and his suporters settle in moderen Alabama. They send for their familys. Others sneak out of Verginia and settle in Bacon Land. This establishes an alturnative to Verginia.

Others: is this plausible?

Not in the slightest, especially when you remember that Alabama isn't neither "empty" or just over the mountains from Virginia.

Because you're still in school, allow me to introduce you to the phrase "Consider The Source". As you perform more and more research in your academic career at higher and higher levels, you'll have to begin considering the sources you read.

In this case, read posts in other threads written by the member who suggested the idea of "Bacon Land", read the responses to those posts, and then make a judgment about the source of those posts.

It will be good practice.
