WI Automatic Transmission Never Invented?

From what I'm hearing none of you can drive at all. If you have to use the transmission as an excuse as to why you crash at intersections then you can't drive, full stop. Dry your eyes kids, focus, and get on with it.

What 'crashes'? No one has mentioned any crashes!

The potential of an accident occurring whilst being distracted with the gear shifting, and clutch use.

What's the distraction? You should still be looking ahead, you do not go looking down at the gear-stick!

Mind you for the purposes of this discussion, the term 'traffic' can mean different things to different people - depending on what part of the world we are in!
I for one, would not want to drive in Bangkok, or Cairo - no way!! Yet, I would still say, that those who do, can drive more in control with a manual gear-box rather than an automatic.

I have to agree with Merlin about the level of control available with an automatic gearbox. There is an unpredictable time lag to changes of ratio that the driver has no way of influencing.
