WI: Austro-Russian War 1898?

Or a similar time. Would Austria-Hungary's expansionism still exist by then, or would Russia feel the sudden urge to liberate Slavs from their rule? What sort of PoD would most likely cause this? Is it at all possible?

Austria-Hungary's "expansionism", with the exception of Bosnia, was basically dead by about, oh, 1866 at the very latest, and probably well before then..

I gathered that from the whole dualism idea and the plans near the end for a united states of A-H, though I was thinking a few ministers could be changed and a truly insane emperor on the throne, and all hell could break lose. ASB, I know, but if something happened in the 1860s, it seems that it could be a war of Austrian aggression.

Rudolph wanted to expand to Constantinople, seeing it as Austria's duty of civilisation. Of course he shot himself...

The other area for expansion is of course INTO Russia, Western Ukraine/Ruthenia etc.

Or in theory you could look at colonialism, though Austria in reality (unlike in Victoria II) never much bothered - it had a large merchant fleet, and it had ships on station in places like China, but unlike Italy who tried and failed in China, Austria never even tried for a concession
