Wi Attlee Resigns in 1951/2?

Hi all,

Of course in OTL, former British PM Clement Attlee remained as leader of the Labour party, despite the loss of power to a resurgent Tory party, under Winston Churchill.

But what if Attlee had decided he'd had enough of leading the labour party (having been it's leader for 16 years by that point anyway) and had stepped aside either in late 1951 or in early 1952?

Who would succeed him? I imagine Morrison would be in a stronger position to win the leadership contest than he was in the 1955 OTL run, still I'm unsure whether he'd win. What are Bevan's chances here? and does Gaitskell stand? Are there any other candidates who could potentially be in the running as a result of Attlee's early departure?

What happens afterwards? I imagine a lot of things go the same as OTL-with Churchill resigning in 1955 and Eden then winning his mandate? With a different opposition leader though, would Eden's majority be more or less than it was OTL? and what happens from there?
