But what if he didn't? What might change if Attila lived significantly longer?
 
Some extra years of looting, raping and pillaging in Europe - both east and west. I seriously dont see the man building anything lasting so the only question is what would be the effect of the extra damage he does. Europe is worse off for sure but beyond that...
 
I don't think it would make much difference. Had Attila and his hun empire lasted longer the ERE might not have been able to try to regain North africa in 468 but that failed anyway. The WRE had already been mortally wounded by 439 at the latest, even before the worst years of Atilla, and had only about 20 years left even without him.
As for the western barbarians, notably the Visigoths, they showed they could stand up to him in 451.
