WI Army Group Centre collapses after Moscow?

IOTL, Hitler didn't want to make Napoleon's mistake by getting routed in a chaotic retreat and ordered his men to fight for every patch of ground. Arguably, this causes enormous casualties, but Army Group Centre remains intact. Suppose his generals ignore the 'no retreat' order and Army Group Centre gets smashed by Zhukov's counteroffensive of the winter of 1941-'42. What happens then? How much does this speed up the war and how will the USSR be post-war with a war that will likely be shorter?

Failure before Moscow addresses this idea by having army group center with a slightly better equipped 4th Panzer army make it to Moscow and then get completely smashed by Zhukov's winter counterattack

Our idea was the have the wings be weaker after pushing some forces over the Moscow - Volga canal and be ripe pickings.

Hitler's idea of obstinate defense was only "partially" obeyed. The Germans had built solid defensive positions along the Oka river over several weeks whilst the 2nd Panzer Army went to the Ukraine and the Third Panzer Army went north. Any forces that were in front of these positions after Operation Typhoon ended up being captured or pushed back to the Oka line which was far too strong for Zhukov to break in the winter of 41-42
