WI: Aragon-Ethiopia Double Wedding Marriage Alliance

From Wikipedia:

"Alfonso was the object of diplomatic contacts from the empire of Ethiopia. In 1428, he received a letter from Yeshaq I of Ethiopia, borne by two dignitaries, which proposed an alliance against the Muslims and would be sealed by a dual marriage that would require the Infante Peter to bring a group of artisans to Ethiopia where he would marry Yeshaq's daughter.

In return, Alfonso sent a party of 13 craftsmen, all of whom perished on the way to Ethiopia.[4]He later sent a letter to Yeshaq's successor Zara Yaqob in 1450, in which he wrote that he would be happy to send artisans to Ethiopia if their safe arrival could be guaranteed, but it probably never reached the Emperor."

So in OTL in the 1400s the King of Aragon received a double marriage proposal for two of his kids with the Ethiopian Empire. One son with one daughter and one daughter with one son. His response never made it back to Ethiopia sadly and the son in question died in Italy in his 30s. What if the double wedding marriage alliance between Aragon and Ethiopia had gone through?

As cool as it sounds, I don't believe it would be plausible for it to last. The religious and geographic distances would make cooperation hard.

Ethiopia must into Egypt
Ethiopia, Ethiopia rule the waves!

But back on topic, this would be a very interesting-- if it could be maintained, of course.

Europe's scientific racism later on really developed as a result of colonialism and the necessity of justifying it and West African slavery. If we have a large, sustained union between a (at least semi-major) European power like Aragon and a strong African kingdom like Ethiopia, we could see huge butterflies in regards to this in Spanish culture, even if no military or economic gains end up made from the union.

That's true. Though aren't Ethiopians counted as caucausoid for scientific racism? We might just see them thought of as dark skinned Europeans or however they justify that.

It could work because yes, Habesha/Oromo/Somali were all considered Caucasian but that wasn't until centuries later.

But then question becomes would a royal Christian Moor who did not ever convert to Islam ever be able to marry into European royalty?

Well the only thing I can gauge this on is from about 1253 with Giovanni Moro aka Johannes dictus Morus (Giovanni called the Moor) who by limited accounts of the time refered to him as Niger (black) and Moro (dark skin) and apparently this Bust from around that time and era may have been of him.

Regardless of this being him, he was powerful and seemed to have assimilated well, becoming Govenor, currying favor with his former adversaries in The Vatican. So why not?
