What if The Ottoman Empire suffered outbreaks of Ergot?

For a More indepth history on Ergot's affects:

In the History of Christianity, one thing that helped the rift between Protestants and Catholics (Not so much orthodox) was Ergot.

Ergot produced LSD-like chemicals which could either result in ST. Anthony's Fire, and Complete Insanity

The Latter two of the three were most interesting. Bizzare, insane behaviors often include Hallucinations and convulsions. People could become violent and fellout of popularity with local authorities. In many instances, most famously in the Case of Peter Staub, 'werewolves' were often suffering from ergot poisoning. Unlike other plagues of the day, it struck at random, implicating a religious cause.

Since many sufferers of Ergot Poisoning witnessed religious images, it only ensured that there was a religious implication in this outbreak.

Now were it affects history is when the soon to be protestants begin doubting the words of the religious authority (who for the most part took what the Infected said about Christianity as true), and began to complain. Compile that with Abuse of Power and Devotion to Religion, and you get the Protestant Movement.
