WI: Anyone but William E. Miller in '64?

Goldwater lost Michigan by over thirty percent; he's not winning it with Ford on the ballot unless Ford is revealed to be the second coming.

The only genuinely close states in that election were Arizona and Florida; a different running mate will have no effect on the EC result for Goldwater. Maybe someone like Thurmond might have been able to swing Florida, but that's Barry's limit.

Goldwater may not be able to pull out a victory in Michigan with Ford, but I think he'll lose by a hell of a lot less than 38%

Actually, Idaho was a bit closer for the Republicans than Florida.
