WI: Anti-theism develops in the place of Islam?

To me Anti-theism would develop early if there was some kind of societial collapse as a result of natural disasters, disease and wars. But the idea borders on ASB to me.

I know of Western religions (which in religious non-pop culture terms really does include Hinduism and Buddhism in India) but am not up on my Shinto and the beliefs of the Chinese. As I understand Confucianism, not really being a "religion" and more a philosophy, though this is looking at things from a Western perspective. Most forms of Buddhism (and you shouldn't paint a large picture using "Buddhism" there's as big difference as between Protestants and Catholics) do not care about gods or pantheons, it's like asking a Jew "What is your religion's view on Jesus?" Typical response- "Well, what is the Pope's view on Buddha?". So my question is- did the Chinese with Confucianism and India with Buddhism move closer to a view that gods and pantheons were not needed or a more agnostic view... and if Christianity and Islam had not taken over Europe would the Greek, Roman, Celtic, Egyptian, and Aramaic pantheons have been overshadowed by a philosophy? Stoicism on steroids?
