WI: An Obama-Trump ticket in 2008

From what I read Trump used to be a democrat, what if Obama picks Trump as VP what would its effects on Obama's candidacy and presidency..

It is impossible. Trump hadn't even entered the political scene yet, and it makes zero sense for these two polar opposites to even come together.

Mr. Trump tried to get the Reform Party nomination for President in 2000 and he expressed interest in running for the Governor of New York in 2006.

It's not that simple. In addition to the Reform Party run from 2000, he's toyed with Presidential runs since 1988. The real questions are why he'd play second fiddle to a much younger guy, and why the Party would want him on the ticket.

Easiest POD might be him instinctively realizing Iraq's gonna be a mess and going into high-profile opposition in 2003, followed by an endorsement of John Kerry the following year. That plus his existing pop culture profile might net him the Democratic nomination for Governor in 2006 if something unlucky (i.e., his use of call girls coming out early) happened to Elliot Spitzer. I'd still have trouble seeing him getting along with Obama, but he'd be committed to Democratic politics by then, much like he's tied down to the Republican agenda now despite not seeming to believe in a lot of it.
