In 1910, US Representative Robert Broussard tried to push through the American Hippo Bill.
Seeking to solve a pretty dire meat shortage problem during that time, as well solve the issue of the invasive Water hyacinth, Broussard hope to introduce wild hippos into the bayou ecosystem of Louisiana.
Though President Teddy Roosevelt and several other representatives supported the bill, it ultimately failed to pass in congress.
But what if Broussard was actually able to gain enough support for it to pass?
What short and long term effects would an American species of Hippos have on the local economy of Louisiana? The US?
