WI: America gets a part of Canada in the War of 1812?

How would the US be affected if this were to happen? Would we see a “Canadian” president in the future? What is the effect on Britain having lost both it’s 13 colones and a part of Canada? What would be the US’s and Britain’s relationship in this TL?

I doubt that annexing part of Canada was really in the diplomatic cards. I can see it happening only if (1) Napoleon remains a major threat in Europe and (2) the US is able to take Upper Canada and Quebec. Extraordinarily good luck and good decisions would be necessary for both to occur.

Even if most of Canada were to fall to US forces, the Royal Navy can ravage the American coastline and shipping at will for so long and so savagely that it can force the Americans to give it up. The US government was nearly at fiscal collapse by the signing at Ghent. And although the British government settled for a draw in 1814, it wasn't going to accept a defeat with a loss of territory.

Militarily, the US can take Canadian territory--and vice versa--and both sides did occupy slices of foreign territory by Ghent. But neither was in a diplomatic position to hold them.

Ok, so Napoleon remains a threat. So do the British decide to focus on him instead and just leave upper Canada and Quebec to us then?

I doubt it would go quite that easily. The Royal Navy alone can maim the US economy for a long time. It can do that from Halifax (effectively impregnable), Bermuda, and the Caribbean.

The British government would have to be convinced that the humiliation of losing Canada to Cousin Jonathan would be worth the resumption of trade with the US in order to fund the war against Napoleon. That's possible, but not an easy sell.

for such an outcome the war in Europe would have had to been a catastrophe. if somehow this would happen one could assume that the slavery question would come to fruition well before 1860, giving the southern states more of an advantage and probably Britain would openly support the south.
