The July Crisis fascinates me to no end. I have a history degree and I am still not sure if I get what happened in this confusing storm of pre-apocalyptic diplomacy; I am very much interested in dissecting events of this fateful month. One thing I do understand is that during a meeting between Russia's Ambassador to Serbia Nicholas Hartwig and Austria-Hungary's Minister to Serbia Wladimir von Geisl, Hartwig suffered a sudden and fatal heart attack.
My POD is technically pre-1900 but the effects consist of things that can only be noticed after 1900. What if throughout his life Nicholas Hartwig maintained a disciplined regimen of healthy diet and rigorous exercise and abstained from all tobacco products? Basically what I am saying is what if he did *not* have a heart attack when he did? How would this affect the outcome of the July Crisis? I would also like to hear some ideas as to how this affects the War (if it happens).
