Canaan If its foundation is is more religious than secular ?Alas, we really took the spotlight of all the other American nations by calling ourselves "America" and "Americans". Of course, it was never really meant to be that way (we were only a United States first, and America happened to be its location), but semantics took the upper hand eventually.
And it's not for lack of trying for a unique name -- but can you honestly call things like "Fredonia" and "Usonia" trying?
Perhaps in another timeline there would be someone slightly more creative who can come up with something oddly passable. But what kind of moniker would they come up with?
(My money's on Liberia -- ain't I original?)
Canaan's already a region, so New Canaan would have to be the name instead.Canaan If its foundation is is more religious than secular ?
I think that sounds cool too. I saw one scenario that used something along the lines Orientalleghania, although the scenario was a DBWI where the Americans lost the Revolution and the "creator" theorized that the American rebels wouldn't expand beyond the Appalachian Mountains so the name doesn't really work IOTL. Could Transalleghania work?I always liked 'Alleghenia'.
Imperia maybe ?That's true, but to actually call itself an 'empire' would leave a foul taste in many peoples' mouths. Unless you're going for a more poetic 'empire of republics' thing.
