WI: Alt 22nd Amendment?

What if the 22nd amendment only applied to consecutive terms, and allowed for a president to run again at least 1 term after their presidency? Would anyone run for annother term after their presidency?

Nixon sans Watergate might see an opening in 1980 if Reagan gets the nomination in 1976 and loses to Carter.

Bill Clinton remains popular and could be a candidate in 2004 against Bush but that would interfere with his own wife's ambitions.

And Obama could easily have it again in 2020 if it were legally allowed.

Thought about this option many a time...bigger issue for me is, am I the only one that hates term limits? If I don't like a candidate, I don't need a law prohibiting my vote for them to avoid voting for that person...why do we need laws like this? Just removes options for the voter...

You’re not the only one @all TonyA-I don’t
like them either! I remember reading about
30 years ago(yeah, believe it or not these
words have stuck in my head that long)that
when Washington observed a two-term limit
it was a good idea; he had to demonstrate that the Presidency was not a semi-monar-
chical office with lifetime tenure. But this is
no longer necessary. Besides, it’s anti- dem-
ocratic. If the people want to keep someone
in for a long time they should be able to-
yeah, we get a Diane Feinstein but we also get an Edward Kennedy.
