WI: Alois Hiedler goes to Milwaukee

Based on this thread.

Milwaukee has had a very big German minority in the 19th century, with many Germans immigrating over to Milwaukee after the 1848 revolutions. In fact, Milwaukee was, for a time, known as the "German Athens" of the USA. So, what would happen if Alois Schicklgruber decided to strike it out in the Midwest, and some time between his birth and January 20th, 1861, moves into Milwaukee with or without his family?

Edit: He would still be known as Alois Schicklgruber. He didn't change his last name to Alois Hiedler until 1876, about fifteen years after my latest POD restriction.

Ok, this one makes me think of Hitler on Lavern and Shirley.

(That glove on the assembly line doing a Sieg Heil, etc. Really, Hitler may be the Meme Cat of history.)

I'm honored, Will. :D:cool:

Anyway, I do think there's some really neat possibilities here: for one, if Milwaukee becomes a significant enough port of entry, Mr. Schicklgruber may perhaps become an immigration official if he stays in the area long enough: after all, he was a customs officer IOTL.

Also, what about the military? Alois would have been 24 when the Civil War started, so no doubt he'd be a Unionist in this scenario. If he survives the conflict, he could possibly stay with the Army for a while, perhaps becoming a corporal or even a Colonel, maybe.

Perhaps he becomes active in local politics, and joined the local Socialist Party and makes it into the state legislature or city government? For some reason, I'm imagining his son taking Daniel Hoan's place asmayor during the 1930s :)

Adolf Hitler will end up as a Midwestern Governor of Wisconsion and later President of the United States.

Adolf Hiedler becomes a well-regarded artist in the 1920s, and paints some classical Americana and would be talked about as others talk about Norman Rockwell. Adolf becomes a fashionable name in the 1950s and never has the baggage it has IOTL.
