At the beginning of the Mexican War of Independence, after the Insurgent's failure at Calderón Bridge, command of the Insurgent forces was transferred to Ignacio Allende after Miguel Hidalgo proved incapable to lead the ragtag army.
In OTL Allende attempted to seek refuge in the United States and come back to fight another day, but on the way there they were tricked and captured by Royalist Ignacio Elizondo in Coahuila. Ignacio Allende, Miguel Hidalgo and various other Insurgent commanders in Allende's entourage were taken to Chihuahua and executed.
...but what if they are not convinced by Elizondo to stop and continue on the march north, or somehow beat back Elizondo's ambush and make it into the United States?
