WI: All of Africa was united as one country by 2010

Honestly post 1900 I can't even imagine large parts of Africa being stable thanks to colonialism, let alone united. I think its simply too vast also, too many cultures and people. Perhaps though with some POD parts of the continent being more stable and part of some pan African customs and currency union (sort of like the current African Union)

Even without colonialism, I highly doubt there'd be an empire big enough or strong enough to unite it, especially in a post-WW2 scenario. No superpower will just sit back and let someone dominate a resource-rich continent.

For instance, how should this massive entity be united? Faith? Political party? How could they get a continent with a diverse collection of ethnic groups that won't necessarily get along well, or at all.

And then there's the infrastructure, practically some of the worst in the world. No sense trying to rule an empire that big if you can't get the trains working on time and per schedule, so to speak.

i believe uniting any continent or even the world is possible, but africa could not unify in its current state, especially not by 2010.

Simon Bolivar tried that in more homogeneous South America and it didn’t work. The odds of that happening in a mish-mash like Africa are the same odds as the soccer World Cup being won by a middle school team from Arkansas with a donkey in goal.
