WI: Alita Becomes Western Roman Emperor?

Based on a thread from years ago that I recently found, but what if through some method Alita is able acquire the western crown and is recognized by either the western population/Pope or the Eastern Emperor. Would this potentially help the empire when it came to the barbarians and such? What would Altila still need to do as emperor to keep the west from simply collapsing after his death?

Do you mean Attila?

Well I do not really think there would be that many who would recognize him as the true Emperor. Though he would most likely be able to keep the throne while being alive, his death would lead most likely to fragmenting and civil war. Which was now beginning to be the normal case whenever someone got to powerful or an emperor died.

In a best case scenario I think that Attila would perhaps beat some barbarians here and there. And when he dies, he has hopefully named one of his sons with brains and fighting skills as heir.

Maybe Attila marries Honoria and makes a heir ?
