WI: Alfonso V of Aragon pulls a Henry VIII

Since Alfonso V of Aragon wanted to divorce his barren wife Maria of Castile, what if he manages to break with the Catholic Church in order to marry another woman, he wanted to marry another woman in OTL.

Not to put too fina a point about it, Henry VIII did not have a huge land border wiht his wife's family kingdom, and Spain lacked traditional claims on England.

Alfonfo V is asking for a Castillian invasion and annexation, with Papal blessing.

What does that have to do with anything related to OP?

To answer the question that was asked, Alfonso would be asking for trouble as his wife was the sister of John of Castile. I don't know if that would be enough to trigger war, but it would really crush relations between them. I can, however, see Alfonso getting his annulment on the grounds that their marriage was never consummated, along with some hefty bribes to the right people.

He would marry Lucrezia d'Alagno and his son with her, Ferdinand I of Naples, would become the legitimate heir to all the holdings of the Crown of Aragon.

The real problem here is war with Castile. It would be a real test to his moniker, "the Magnanimous" to see if he could stand up to the might of and angry and rejected Castile y Leon.

It has to do with the fact than Henry (married to a spanish princess), rules an island, with a huge navy, and hundreds of miles away from Spain (a Spain than has other worries like France). He can afford to anger both Spain and the Pope on a whim.

Aragon does not have that luxury against Castille.
