WI: Alexios I Komnenos fails to take the throne

Alexios I Komnenos was a byzantine emperor, notable for inheriting a collapsing empire, repealing norman-sicilian invasions in the balkans, repealing the iconian seljuks, and for his influence in the first crusade (by giving safe passage to the crusader armies, and using them to reconquer lost territories). He ascended to the throne through a coup orchestrated by an alliance between the Doukas and Komnenos families. But what if Alexios had failed to overthrow Nikephoros III Botaneiates?
What are the effects on...
-The norman-sicilian invasion of the balkans? Could we see the normans invading the empire and installing one of their royals on the byzantine throne?
-The Sultanate of Rum? Do the anatolian seljuks end up in a better position of power?
-The First Crusade?
-The Cuman and Pecheneg raids in the balkans?

hmm minor point repelling not repealing. Interesting premise.
