WI Alexanders secretary of war Eumenes defeats Antiognus

So how would events play out if Antiogne is defeated by Eumenes. Could we see Polyperchon instead of Cassander as King of Macedonia. Could we see Eumenes as the Asian ruler rather than Antiognes? How would events play out.

I thought he was just Alexander's secretary. Secretary of War sounds a bit... modern? :p

With Polyperchon as the victor maybe Alexander IV is not murdered by Cassander?

The obvious thought is that the longer the empire survives united, the higher the chance that eventually Alexander IV can rule in his own name.

I think Alexander IV might rule Macedon itself but lose the rest of the empire. Perhaps a Ptolemaic-Eumenid Cold War?

Mayhaps you have read the Manga loosely based on his life?

Anyway, the main problem He had was the loyalty of his troops. So he would definitely need a strong figurehead to rule behind.

Eumenes knew as a Greek he really couldn't hope to become a ruler himself. That's why he attached himself to the Perdiccans and the Argaead house. So if he defeats Antigonus, which he very well could (and probably should have), then I can see Alexander IV coming out of this alive and controlling whatever Eumenes won for him.

interestign what ramifcations would this have on the selucids and ptolmys and the later diaodachi wars.

Wow I was going to to ask this very question! Cool. Well reading A Ghost on the Throne by Deckle Edge (great book for any interested in the early Diadochi wars) leads me to believe that the battles between Eumenes and Antigonus were proxy battles between Cassander and Olympias/Alexander IV. If Eumenes could defeat and more importantly capture or kill Antigonus then he could march on Macedon/Greece to save the royal family. IDK if that's true or not but it sounds possible. Could a sound defeat of Antigonus and Cassander mean that the possibility of the Empire surviving longer or no? Also Eumees technically won the Battle of Gabiene, but he lost the baggage train to Antigonus. That's what made his soldiers tun him over to the enemy. It was in exchange for their booty.

Also, it would seem that the leader of the Silver Shields as well as the other commander (who's names escape me) were talking with Antigonus about betraying Eumenes. It seems that the commander of the silver shields however was extremely hesitant to do so, and it would lead me to believe the silver shields were only going to betray Eumenes if they lost or the baggage train was taken.

...There's a Manga on the Wars of the Diadochoi?!
