WI: Alexander Severus isn't Assassinated

So a few weeks ago I posted a tread asking what religious changes would be made if Emperor Alexander Severus had been able to build his temple to Jesus (link here http://www.gateway.alternatehistory.com/discussion/showthread.php?t=262522). This lead me to research the Severan Dynasty in general and Alexander Severus in particular. Compared to his predecessors and successors Alexander seemed to be an ideal leader. He had the Aqua Alexandrina, the last ancient aqueduct to Rome, built, helped revalue the Roman currency, lightened taxes, encouraged literature, art and science, improved the lot of the soldiers and had an open mind on Religious matters. o what if he wasn't assassinated in 235 and continued to reign? Could this stop the Crisis of the Third Century, thus keeping Rome from being weakened in the West? Would Christianity catch on sooner or perhaps be annexed into the Roman State Region (Jesus the Savior, son of Zeus anyone:D)? Would a more stable Rome last longer or was the Empire doomed to fail?

Edit Opps I meant to put this in the before 1900, can someone tell me how to move it there?
