WI: Albert of Prussia doesn't convert to Protestantism

He might try to get the Polish throne, since they are the last descendants of Casimir III but if the Hohenzollerns become the Kings of Poland, they will be the worst enemy of Austria.

Like his predecessor, he gained his position in the hopes that his family ties to the Polish crown could be used to the benefit of the Teutonic Order. Unlike his predecessor, he most likely wouldn't be able to keep stalling for time for much longer.

The kings of Poland had been attempting to force the Grand Master of the Teutonic Order to do homage for the Order's holdings for a while by the time Albert was made Grand Master. Assuming Albert never converts and abandons his duties as Grand Master, there's only a few possible outcomes:

a) Albert continues trying to stall for time, using his family ties to the best of his abilities. Assuming Poland can be distracted elsewhere, this might work for a while, but is not a permanent solution by any means.

b) Albert reaches some sort of compromise with the king of Poland, but is still forced to do homage.

c) The four year truce of 1521 runs out, and Poland once again invades Prussia. The Order was not in a very good position at the time, so unless they receive Imperial assistance, their chances of survival are not very good. Part of the reason Albert converted to protestantism to begin with was that no Imperial aid was forthcoming in the latest war, so the Order is pretty much doomed.

why would this be so?

Well, first of all, if Albert doesn't convert, does he still remains the Grand Master of the Order, or does he still makes Prussia a secular state with himself as a ruler, but a Catholic one?

His chances for Polish throne are exactly zero. Sigismund I is alive and he has a son, Sigismund August, so the succession is secure. Being a descendant of Casimir III won't help him, since the Jagiellons sit on the Polish throne since about 150 years and are rather liked by their subjects; meanwhile Albert is a leader of the Teutonic Order, quite unpopular in Poland (euphemism!).

Generally, I agree with Kuld von Reyn. It might even end with annexation of Prussia y Poland.
