WI Al-Aqsa C4ed in 1967?

Fortunately the brigade commander was sane and did not follow through with the chief chaplain's suggestion. But WI he didn't countermand the order? How violent would the ME get? I suspect the Jordanians would cancel their defacto alliance with Israel, but how would the US/UK respond?

Do you have a source? I find it hard to describe the Jordanian-Israeli relationship as a de facto alliance (since if there was one, Israel would not have captured the temple mount).

Michael Oren's two books, the fact that Israel intervened on Jordan's behalf during Black September by ordering the IAF to bomb Syrian armored columns, which is documented in any history book covering the period (Black's Nixon bio is my source for the intervention).

That's after 3 years and being on the losing end of the 6 Day War.

Jordan was at war with Israel in '67.

Blowing up the Al Aqsa would just guarantee that there would probably never be that relationship three years later.

Oh after '67 is a rather different matter (even before '67 my understanding is that Jordan was reluctant that a PoD is there for the taking). Still IMO a deal with Jordan in the 50s seems unlikely.
