WI: Aksumite victory at Year of the Elephant

The same year that Muhammad was born, The Aksumite King tried to attack and destroy Mecca in The Year of the Elephant (He had an army with Elephants in it.) Muhammad would be killed in said attack.
I was thinking that It would result in a Christian Arabia, Surviving Byzantium ans expanded Aksumite Empire. A slower advent of gunpowder and other technology? Will we be stuck with Roman Numerals? No crusades means more backwords West Europe for longer?

I was thinking that It would result in a Christian Arabia,

Likely, as is Jewish Arabia. Zoroastrian influences in the east and south can not be neglected.
Surviving Byzantium

They survived for centuries more without the destruction of Mecca, so no surprise if they survive here. You also should get a surviving Sassanid Persia. Perhaps an Egyptian power as well.

ans expanded Aksumite Empire.

At least for the start. I don't know if they have the staying power to last that long.

A slower advent of gunpowder and other technology?

No reason for these to be delayed.

Will we be stuck with Roman Numerals?
No. Vishnu will provide.

No crusades means more backwords West Europe for longer?
No crusades. However, I don't think the rest follows directly from the POD.

Why is Byzantium's survival guaranteed? They'll still probably have to deal with invasions of Turks, regardless of the presence of religious motives.

The mistaken assumption that a stronger state vs. external foes will be less prone to tearing itself apart would be my guess.

Certainly it could do well, but assuming it automatically would...well, put it this way. The state in 1025 was strong enough. The state in 1071 fell for other reasons.

I didn't know this event, but even if the Aksumite conquered and destroy Mecca, we cannot be sure Muhammad will be killed.

Probably, the Ka'aba will however be spared... But it will be reutilizated as a Christian sanctuary, i guess.

Maybe, if Muhammad survived in an Aksumite Mecca... probably, there is a chance Islam will not be butterflied; instead to have a Pre-Islam Polyteisthic Mecca, we will have a Christian and occupied Mecca.

So, later Muhammad could still managed to promote an Arabian revolt from Medina. But i said, the butterflies are still on...
