WI/AHC: Wank the Puritan and Pilgrim Communities in North America

Basically as the tin says, how would you go about wanking the Puritan and Pilgrim communities, population, and Churches in the English/British colonies of North America? What impact would this have in the future?

A fun way would be to have large numbers of Roundheads (including possibly Cromwell) escape to exile in New England instead of being executed or quietly reabsorbed into English society. New England very, very strongly supported the Lord Protector - in fact, New Haven ended up taking in several prominent regicides, and droves of young New Englanders enrolled in the New Model Army. Such a New England would probably conquer the New Netherlands sooner rather than later, after which they'll likely expand into much of OTL New Jersey and maybe into Pennsylvania until they hit Virginia and Maryland. They could well be rabidly Puritan (though absorbing the New Netherlands could hurt that, it wouldn't be impossible for the local Dutch to adopt Puritanism - there were strong Puritan-esque movements within the Dutch Reformed Church anyway; maybe that alone would be enough). Such a country would also be well-placed to absorb Huguenots.

Of course, they'll run into conflicts with Maryland and Virginia (I'm not sure they'd be able to stop themselves), and very likely New France. I don't know if they'll win more than they'll lose.

There’s another previous thread showing all the aborted Puritan attempts to settle in places such as New York, Nee Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc. I think if all of the Puritan and Piligrim attempts had actually been carried through in the early 1600s you’d have a larger base to attract the Puritans in England proper

The trick is getting the Crown to sign onto the charter and land grants for such a heavy concentration of the same type of political dissident. That raises loyalty concerns and greater intracolonial cooperation that resuces the natural (as opposed to needing expensive enforcement) flow of commerce to the mother country

Well as for New York, the Pilgrims did have permission to settle there. They just had the misfortune of going to OTL Plymouth Rock instead of Manhattan. If we end up with the Pilgrim Puritans in Manhattan and OTL Massachusetts Bay Company still setting up shop in its OTL location, that makes it easier for them to create a larger New England. Plus we get two different Puritan groups, the Pilgrims separatists and the Mass Bay Puritans.
