WI/AHC: The Beatles Present: DUNE

Something I've been knocking around mentally for a while...

We're all familiar with the famed Beatles Lord of the Rings project that tantalized those of us on AH.com who are fans of both (although even with Kubrick involved, as improbable as that is, the consensus seems to ever be that it would have been dreadful...)

But what about Dune? If the group, and in particular Lennon, had had access to the serialized version and became big fans before it's release, once the book comes out and is recieved so well critically and financially, they could certainly push for a greenlight to make it. Herbert could use the money in the sixties, the Beatles had a lot of influence, and with a serious attention to detail I don't see them pissing FH off (iotl, he liked Lynch's adaptation.)

So describe to me the Beatles' Dune and the world in which it exists. Cast, director, soundtrack?

I had some ideas of my own but wanted to gauge the interest here first.

Edit: ignore the giant red thumbs down... I'm using a phone and it's seemingly full of surprises...

That would be Alejandro Jodorowsky DUNE !

OTL John Lennon provide Jodorowsky with $1 million to finance his film: The Holy Mountain.
so it would make sense if John Lennon, Ringo Star put also money in his next project: DUNE

SFX by Dan O'Bannon

Paul: Brontis Jodorowsky (son of Alejandro)

Could be so wonderful - but would be so terrible! Impressed that you dug this up!

This didn't take any digging! For us dune fans, especially those of us also fans of Jodorowsky, his post is all common knowledge.

I was looking for more of a production beginning in 1966/67 and released 1968/69 which leaves out Jodorowsky (who could perhaps reunite some Beatles for Dune Messiah?)

McCartney: "Father, like, the sleeper has awakened"
Lennon: "I'm going back to bed"
Ringo: "Day light savings time and all"

Bahahahaha!

Paul would be obvious for Muad'Dib, I'm thinking Lennon for baron harkonnen based in his desire to be Gollum IOTL. George as Stilgar? Ring as...?

Christopher lee as the Emperor is a must... And sir Alec Guinness as Gurney Halleck.

Who would direct? Certainly not Dick Lester for the quotations above...
