The Gilded Age was certainly an interesting era. It saw a great amount of industrialization the United States, but saw large-scale corruption, with Trust monopolies, called Robber Barons, or Captains of Industry, able to influence government policies, and become giant monopolies. It also saw horrid work conditions, and horrible labor laws. The Gilded Age ended, when Theodore Roosevelt became president and enacted regulatory reforms and antitrust prosecutions.
Challenge: With a POD between 1930s to 1990s, have the USA experience a "Second Gilded Age" where companies (Military, Tech, Entertainment, or Civilian) grow to such a great extent, that they can influence the US government to do away with the antitrust laws, and able to form giant monopolies that control the market. With the US government siding with the newly created monopolies, the businesses can do whatever they please.
EDIT: Well this backfired. I didn’t mean for this to get modern political
