WI/AHC: President Robert Todd Lincoln

Go read Union Forever TL by Macgregor. There we have a three term RTL that actually leads America into winning WW1 and prevents a bullshit Versailles treaty.

Ahh but the Point of Divergence in Union Forever is an alternate Peninsular Campaign during The American Civil War, in which George McClellan experiences an accident which paralyzes him from the waist down, which happens before Abe Lincoln's death.

Pretty simple. Have him be more inclined to serve in higher office. Then make him Garfield or McKinley's VP.

What if after, Robert Todd Lincoln, leaves office of Secretary of War in 1885, he rans for US Senate election in New York, 1885, easily winning, spending 11 years in office, ready to be selected in 1896, as William McKinley's Vice President, serving one full term in this office and in 1901, succeeds to the Oval Office after the assassination of McKinley (linking him to 3 assassinations) he could stay in office from 1901-1913 although, I doubt he would want to serve more then the traditional 2 terms.

Him staying in America, will also avoid his son, Abraham Lincoln II, being in Paris and contracting the blood-poison which ended his life at 16.

My guess is that he gets assassinated. He was present at three presidential assassinations historically.
