WI/AHC - Ethanol Fuel butterflied away in favor of Methanol and Butanol

Ha!
Checked it out. Methanol is consumed making biodiesel from oils, not produced from them.

I had a friend who made his own biodiesel from used cooking oil. I believe he added glycerin to the oil which is interesting because I believe waste fats give up glycerin, thus why they were recycled during the war, the glycerin being used in explosives manufacturing. It appears they add alcohol to get the chemistry, so a ready supply of "cheap" industrial alcohol supports a biodiesel manufacture?

Can't methanol also be obtained from waste grease, from restaurants & such? I've seen small-scale "reactors" able to produce it (tho IDK what else goes in...).
Methanol is used in the conversion of waste grease to shorter hydrocarbons, i.e. biodiesel.

Damn these bifocals, I thought it said "Menthol and Butter"....
Well I don't think Menthol would be much good, but you can biodiesel from butter...
...However, it is possible that even without further purification a butter-based ester preparation could be mixed with biodiesel from other feedstocks to produce a blend that meets the current quality standards for biodiesel.
