WI AHC: Cyprus United, joins NATO in the 1960s-70s

A non-NATO Turkey invading Cyprus earlier than OTL could get a response from NATO if British and/or American troops are stationed on the island with a Greek majority government joining NATO years after Greece did.

Well, except that Turkey and Greece both joined NATO in 1952, and Cyprus didn't gain independence until 1960.

Given how unsettled and messy the whole Cyprus situation was, I don't see them being granted NATO membership unless that was changed somehow. If the ethnic Greeks and Turks were more willing to work together and build a united nation, you'd have a chance of them joining NATO. But in that case, there wouldn't be any attempted takeover by Greece or resulting invasion by Turkey.

This version of Cyprus probably joined Greece once the British stopped running the place.
